This existing residence was given a facelift with new windows, a new stucco finish, a tiled front porch, new fencing and landscaping, and contemporary trim details over the front door and bay window.

The Holt Residence was a typical one-story, 1940’s Los Angeles bungalow house with small, individual rooms closed off from both each other and the outdoors. We remodeled the home to create one large open kitchen, dining and den area that also opened to the backyard and the formal Living Room. Where previous sight lines within the house were limited by the separate rooms, long vistas through the house and to the outdoors were created. Taking advantage of the climate and lifestyle, the rear wall of the main public living area is now mostly glass and opens upon a new outdoor dining area.
The master bathroom was relocated to the back of the property making way for access to the backyard and creating a better circulation flow for the whole home. A new Master Suite, with a sizable walk-in closet and a bathroom with a double vanity and marble shower tile, is situated at the rear of the house.
The entry was transformed as well, with a new awning and concrete tile patio that provides a welcoming place to sit at the front of the house. New windows, doors, stucco topcoat, gutters and trim make the house look and feel almost completely new.

Multiple interior walls were removed to create a new, open kitchen/dining/family room that is open to the backyard through large, sliding glass doors.

The open dining area was created by selectively removing interior walls and creating a custom hatch inlaid into the flooring for access to the downstairs wine cellar.
The new kitchen boasts two sinks, a six burner, dual oven range and an integrated, under counter wine refrigerator. Large windows let in light from the front of the house.
The new family room has built in millwork around the television to match the new kitchen cabinetry.
New island seating was created out of Ikea cabinets with custom fronts from Semihandmade.
Inlaid into the flooring is a custom hatch for access to the downstairs wine cellar.
The family room has large glass doors and windows that open onto a new platform deck open to the backyard.
Updates to the second bath include matching grain wood cabinetry, new countertops, and simple trim elements.
The new master bathroom has natural light from two directions with large, frosted windows.
